How to Understand & Pay with Bitcoin

1. Choosing Bitcoin at Checkout

1. At checkout, select Bitcoin as your payment method.

2. Press Place Order.

3. A payment window will appear showing:

4. The exact Bitcoin amount required (calculated at the current exchange rate).

5. A QR code and a Bitcoin address for payment.

2. Using Your Bitcoin Wallet

Open your preferred Bitcoin wallet app (examples: Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, Cash App).

To pay:

Scan the QR code if your wallet supports it.

Or, copy the Bitcoin address and paste it into your wallet’s Send section.

3. Entering the Payment Amount

If you scan the QR code, your wallet may auto-fill the payment details.

If not, carefully enter the exact Bitcoin amount shown at checkout.

Double-check the amount and the address.

4. Confirming & Sending the Payment

Review the transaction details in your wallet.

Confirm and authorize the payment.

Your Bitcoin will be sent directly to OpenNode (the payment processor).

5. Payment Confirmation

Lightning Network payments: usually instant.

On-chain Bitcoin payments: may take several minutes depending on the network.

Once confirmed:

Your order will be marked Paid.

You’ll receive your order confirmation email.

6. Important Notes for Customers

You can choose to pay via:

Bitcoin Lightning Network (fast, low fees).

Bitcoin blockchain (on-chain) (standard).

Always send the exact amount shown at checkout.

A Bitcoin address only accepts Bitcoin.

Sending another coin (e.g., Ethereum, Litecoin) will likely result in lost funds.

Think of it like mailing a package: the address must match the network and currency.

7. Buying Bitcoin Step-by-Step (for New Customers)

1. Choose a platform to buy Bitcoin:

2. Use a trusted exchange/app (e.g., Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, Cash App).

3. Create an account and complete identity verification (KYC).

4. Link a payment method:

5. Add a bank account, debit card, or other supported method.

6. Bank transfers usually have lower fees than cards.

7. Buy Bitcoin (BTC):

8. Select Buy → Bitcoin (BTC).

9. Enter the amount (USD or BTC).

10. Confirm purchase.

11. Withdraw/Send Bitcoin:

12. Open the exchange/app’s Send, Withdraw, or Transfer section.

13. Enter the merchant’s Bitcoin address (or scan the QR code).

14. Select Bitcoin (BTC) mainnet as the network.

15. Confirm details & send:

16. Review the recipient address, amount, and network fee.

17. Confirm and authorize the transaction.

Best practice for safety:

Send a small test transaction first ($5–$20).

Once it arrives, send the full amount.

Share transaction ID (TXID):

After sending, copy the TXID from your wallet.

Share it with the merchant for tracking.

Wait for confirmations:

Bitcoin requires network confirmations.

Depending on the merchant’s policy, this may be 3–6 confirmations.

Times vary based on fees and network congestion.
